CSX Hit With Retaliation Charge, Ordered to Pay $32,000

The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has ordered CSX Transportation Inc. to pay $32,000 in damages for retaliating against an employee who had told managers of safety violations at the company’s locomotive shop in Selkirk. OSHA says that CSX breached the Federal Railcar Safety Act’s anti-retaliation provisions in 2013 when it penalized the employee for presenting, in his capacity as a union representative, a letter identifying various workplace safety violations at the plant.
