Maximum Weekly Wage Benefits Will Rise 4%

Maximum disability benefits in New York State will climb almost 4% starting July 1, in keeping with an increase in the average weekly wage in the state, the Workers' Compensation Board announced.

By law, the maximum weekly benefit rate is two-thirds of the New York State average weekly wage, which is reported every July by the state Department of Labor. The average wage went from $1,306 to $1,357, so the maximum benefit for compensable lost time will rise from $871 to $905, the board said.

The new rate will apply to workplace accidents that occur between July 1, 2018, and June 30, 2019.
