Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon on Thursday announced that an interim committee will hold meetings after the legislative session ends in September to discuss plans for a universal health care system in California.
Rendon, D-Lakewood, in June put the kibosh on Senate Bill 562, by Sens. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens, and Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, which would have created the “Healthy California” program.
