Bell Resigns as Top Alabama Regulator

Alabama Insurance Commissioner Walter A. Bell announced his resignation as the state's top insurance regulator Monday without explanation.Gov. Bob Riley, who appointed Bell to the post in January 2003, announced Bell's decision to leave the post at the end of August.Bell was the first Alabaman to serve as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioner (NAIC) – a post he held in 2007.
