A report released by the California Department of Industrial Relations on Friday highlights savings for employers and increased benefits for employers flowing from reforms in Senate Bill 863, and also explores ways in which the administration is working to further reduce costs in the system.
Projected average medical costs per claim decreased by about 8% from 2011 to 2015, the department said in a statement. This is due, at least in part, to a focus on evidence-based medicine and the new independent medical review process reducing the cost of unnecessary treatments.
