Injured workers receiving temporary total disability beneifts who return to light duty work would see their benefits offset by the wages they are paid under a bill pending in the state legislature.
Senate Bill 151, sponsored by Republican Sen. Steve West, cleared the state Senate 24-9 on Feb. 19 and was referred Feb. 23 to the House of Representatives' Labor and Industry Committee. A similar bill was introduced in the House by Republican Bart Rowland and sent to committee.
West has said current laws are broken and allow injured workers who return on light duty to collect disability benefits and receive "double recovery."
