NCCI Recommending 5.1% Decrease as Claims Frequency Drops

The National Council on Compensation Insurance is proposing a 5.1% rate decrease in Arizona, where declining claims frequency has outpaced a slight increase in costs due to recent legislative increases to permanent disability benefit levels.The proposed rate change, which must be approved by the Arizona Department of Insurance, would be the first decrease since 2006, according to a report NCCI posted on its website Wednesday.The rate change would take effect Jan. 1 under legislation that changed the historical Oct. 1 effective date, NCCI said.NCCI's data shows the number of claims filed (f...
