First Responders Support Liaison Bill

First responders and those who work with them have come out in strong support of a bill aimed at easing the workers' compensation process for emergency workers, the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reports.
House Bill 2082 calls for the designation of a liaison to assist first responders with their workers' compensation claims. The liaison would come from the Office of Injured Employee Counsel.
A hearing was held on HB 2082, by Reps. Dustin Burrows, R-Lubbock, and Rene Oliveira, D-Brownsville, on April 3. The bill has been pending in the House Business and Industry Committee since.
Two first responders and one advocate spoke to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal about their support for the bill in a story published Saturday.
Advocates have been making their case for the bill to the media for quite some time. An injured officer and another injured officer's wife spoke to KTXS-TV 12 in late February in support of a similar measure.
