The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry has issued a notice encouraging employers to make use of its free mediation services -- which now include the option of video conferencing -- to parties in workers' compensation disputes.The department said that "while the most effective way to conduct mediations is usually in-person, the location of the parties and time constraints do not always make that possible."For those reasons department staff members will conduct mediations by telephone, fax, e-mail and now teleconferencing, "whatever is appropriate to accommodate the parties’ ne...
