The state Department of Financial Regulation has contracted with W.J. Cox Associates to conduct safety audits on logging operations, part of a plan to bring down workers' compensation premiums for the industry.
Cox Associates, based in Clarence, New York, is a risk prevention firm with more than 40 years in the forest products industry, Vermont Gov. Phil Scott said in a news release. The firm will verify that logging companies are implementing safety measures after employers and employees go through a training program.
