Employers Must Report Payroll as Last Step of Transition to Prospective Billing

Ohio employers must report their annual payroll for the policy year ending June 30 to the Bureau of Workers' Compensation by Aug. 15 in order to remain enrolled in their current rating plan or discount program, the agency announced. The agency calls the "true-up" the final step of its yearlong transition from a retroactive to prospective billing system. The agency now collects workers' compensation premiums upfront, which has allowed it to "reduce base rates and offer employers more flexible payment options," the BWC said in a press release.
