The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries has opened the comment period for a proposed rule that would allow payment for acupuncture treatment in injured workers.
The approved conditions for acupuncture payment would be low back pain related to an accepted condition on the claim. Other conditions may be considered later based on the scientific and clinical evidence, L&I said.
Under the proposed rule, L&I or a self-insured employer would pay for a maximum of one acupuncture treatment per day for not more than 10 visits per workers’ compensation claim.
