North Dakota’s state-run workers’ compensation insurer on Monday announced new guidelines designed to encourage medical providers and employers to be a bit more judicious when drug-testing employees and when treating them for non-work-related conditions.
The state’s Workforce Safety & Insurance agency unveiled the “expectations,” under which it would reimburse providers for most initial or presumptive drug tests, and for more definitive tests when necessary.
