Insulation Maker Cited for Fire Hazards, Silica Dust

An insulation manufacturer in Pennsylvania has been hit with a number of safety violations including exposing workers to silica dust, and fire and explosion hazards, according to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration. In response to a complaint of safety violations, OSHA inspected US GreenFiber LLC’s plant in Wilkes-Barre in October 2015. The most serious violation it found, OSHA says, was employees working on production lines that did not contain separators to prevent deflagration hazards, production lines without fire suppression systems, and failing to equip it...
