Amerisafe Net Income Up, but Premiums Down

Amerisafe, a specialty writer of hazardous workers' compensation insurance, announced fourth-quarter 2009 net income of $6.6 million, compared to $5.7 million in the same period last year.For the full year 2009, Amerisafe reported net income of $46.4 million, up from $43.8 million in 2008, said the company, which is based in DeRidder, La.Amerisafe reported $49.4 million in gross premiums in the fourth quarter, down from $65.1 million in the prior-year quarter.
