A wrongful death suit filed in a New Jersey court Thursday against Insys Therapeutics, the maker of under-the-tongue painkiller Subsys, highlights not only the dangers of the powerful opioid fentanyl, but also the potential pitfalls of off-label drug use.
The plaintiffs in the case are Deborah and David Fuller, the parents of Sarah Fuller, who died in March 2016 at the age of 32 due to an adverse reaction to Subsys and anti-anxiety drug alprazolam, according to the lawsuit.
