The city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, has been paying full salary to a police officer who injured her foot at work in 1986 and hasn't worked in 25 years, according to a report by the Patriot-News.
After Officer Maritta Adley injured her left foot when she tumbled down wet stairs inside city hall, the city began paying her full salary and never moved her to a disability pension, which would have cut her pay in half, the newspaper said. Adley gets annual pay raises under her police union's contract with the city and now earns more than $70,000 a year.
