Maine Gov. Paul LePage has appointed Portland workers' compensation defense attorney Madeline Malisa as his deputy counsel and senior policy adviser on labor issues.
Malisa replaces former LePage adviser John Butera, who was approved in June to become the state's next labor commissioner.
Malisa will advise the governor on topics including “regulations and legislation related to labor, worker’s compensation, and professional and financial licensing and oversight,” the governor’s office said in a statement.
