Hawaii lawmakers sent to Gov. David Ige a bill that would require doctors prescribing opioids to injured workers to execute a written agreement to carry out an informed consent process with the patient.
The Senate and House of Representatives on May 1 signed off on recent amendments to SB 2244, by Sen. Rosalyn Baker, D-Maui, that would make the bill take effect immediately if signed into law.
The bill would require doctors to start executing written agreements when prescribing opioids to injured workers by July 1, 2019.
