Trucking Co. Owner Charged With 816 Counts of Failure to Carry Comp Insurance

Thursday, June 22, 2017 | 0

A State College-area trucking company owner has been charged with 816 felony counts of failure to obtain workers' compensation coverage for his alleged failure to carry insurance for Robinson Trucking from June 2012 to June 2014, the Centre Daily Times newspaper reported.

Michael W. Robinson, 54, of Milesburg, and his business were charged Tuesday.

Court documents indicate that the investigation of Robinson began after one of his workers was injured on March 27, 2013. The worker resolved his claim petition with the Uninsured Employer and Uninsured Employers Guaranty Fund the following year.

The charges against Robinson Trucking indicate that during the two-year period in which the freight shipping and trucking company allegedly did not carry insurance, it was not exempt as a self-insurer.
