Just how far-reaching a federal safety inspection may be following a workplace accident is the subject of a case that has made its way to the U.S. Court of Appeals.
The case centers on an administrative warrant that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration sought during its post-accident investigation of Mar-Jac Poultry Inc., a poultry processing plant in Georgia.
The inspection was prompted by a Feb. 3, 2016, accident in which a worker repairing an electrical panel was burned on his hand and face by an arc flash from a non-insulated screwdriver, resulting in hospitalization.
