California Secretary of State Bill Jones has given permission to People's Veto, a Simi Valley organization, to launch a petition drive for the recall of Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush. The group must collect 964,325 signatures from registered California voters, or 12% of the votes for the commissioner in his last election (1998). Voters cannot sign the petitions online. Forms can be downloaded, signed and mailed back to People's Veto. According to that organization, 9,000 petitions have been downloaded so far.
