The California Department of Justice certified that the state’s prescription drug monitoring program is ready for statewide use, meaning doctors will have to start consulting the program before prescribing controlled substances in six months.
The DOJ certified that as of April 2 it has sufficient staff to run the Controlled Substances Utilization Review and Evaluation System. The certification triggers a six-month implementation period after which use of CURES will become mandatory in many situations, the California Medical Association announced.
