2nd DCA Upholds Dismissal of Extortion Suit Against Knox Ricksen

The 2nd District Court of Appeal last week upheld a trial judge’s decision to toss a chiropractor’s extortion suit against the Knox Ricksen law firm and three attorneys. The case was Larson v. Fraysse, No. B270061. In June 2014, an Orange County grand jury indicted multiple health care providers on charges of fraud. The providers were accused of paying kickbacks to doctors and chiropractors in exchange for writing prescriptions for workers’ compensation patients, then submitting fraudulent bills and liens to workers’ compensation insurance carriers.
