State Fund Asks 9th COA for OK to File Amicus in Angelotti

State Compensation Insurance Fund is asking the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for permission to submit an amicus brief defending the decision of the California Legislature to exempt certain entities from the $100 lien-activation fee it mandated in Senate Bill 863.The appellate court is reviewing the temporary injunction by U.S. District Court Judge George H. Wu in Angelotti Chiropractic v. Baker et al. prohibiting the state from collecting the activation fee or dismissing any unactivated liens pending the outcome of an equal-protection challenge.
