According to a recent survey conducted by the Insurance Research Council, about 24% of all Americans think it's okay to inflate or otherwise misrepresent the extent of loss on claims. The group has been tracking public tolerance for insurance fraud for many years. Public tolerance for insurance fraud peaked in 1997, however this year's survey shows greater tolerance for insurance fraud than at any time before 1997.
