Quackenbush Budget Held Up

In the continuing saga of beleaguered California State Insurance Commissioner, IMMS reported 4/14/00 that 'State lawmakers have vowed to withhold approval of the budget for Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush until completion of legislative hearings and an attorney general's probe into the commissioner's handling of Northridge earthquake claims settlements.' According to IMMS, Quackenbush agreed to provide answers to written inquiries from the Senate budget committee and defends the $11.5-million claims settlement agreement with major insurance companies reported earlier in these pages....
