The Los Angeles Times reported 7/28/00 that it is anticipated that Govenor Gray Davis is going to appoint retired Court of Appeal Justice Harry Low, 69, as interim replacement for former Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush. The nomination list is said to comprise only four individuals, though the Times could not ascertain the identity of any of the other nominees.The Legislature needs to confirm the nominee, though it is widely thought that Low would be a shoe-in.
