City Official Held on $1M Bail in Fraud Case

A Red Bluff City Council member and hotel owner accused of pocketing tax proceeds and not carrying workers’ compensation coverage will remain in jail on $1 million bail for another two weeks, the Redding Record Searchlight reports. Suren Patel was arrested in Florida last month, where county prosecutors claim he was attempting to flee the country.
