Two months after it passed the Legislature, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed a bill that will raise attorneys' fees and change the way insurers make settlement offers to injured workers.
Senate Bill 2145 amends the state's workers' compensation law by allowing claimants' attorneys to get paid based on the full amount of a settlement, not just part of a judgment, as had been the case for years.
Murphy signed the bill into law on Friday, and it took effect immediately.
