Florida-based federal prosecutors have charged an undocumented Honduran immigrant with 121 counts of wire fraud for his alleged efforts to connect fellow immigrants with work in the construction industry.
Oscar Arnelson Rodriguez-Cruz allegedly set up a company through which he could lease out workers to construction contractors.
Contractors would pay Rodriguez-Cruz's company, Gedeon Multiservices Inc., for the work, and Rodriguez-Cruz would cash the checks and pay the workers without deducting state and federal payroll taxes, prosecutors said.
