WCD Updates Informational Brochures

Monday, November 20, 2017 | 0

Oregon’s Workers’ Compensation Division released revised informational brochures intended that explain the rights and responsibilities of injured workers, and how the independent medical exam process works.

The division on Thursday posted to its website a copy of a worker protection guide covering workers’ compensation benefits, rights and responsibilities; explaining how to file a claim; the claim process; and benefits available to injured workers.

The division also posted a copy of a publication describing the carrier-requested independent medical exam process. The brochure explains the requirement for injured workers to attend the exams, the right to bring an unpaid observer and the ability to request payment for expenses such as mileage and lodging.

The division said printed copies of the two brochures will be available after Jan. 3.

A PDF of the “Important information about independent medical exams” guide is here.

A digital copy of “What happens if I’m hurt on the job? A guide to Oregon’s workers’ compensation benefits, rights and responsibilities” is here.
