The assessment levied on Minnesota employers to pay for workers’ compensation programs will drop by $2 million in 2018 to $78 million, the Department of Labor and Industry said in its monthly newsletter.
L&I said the reduction continues a downward trend in the amount of funding required. The 2009 assessment was $91 million and has decreased each year since then.
The insurer premium surcharge rate will be 6.4976% for 2017, down from 7.077045% the year prior. The self-insured assessment rate will drop to 18.9351%, down from 19.2897% for 2016.
