The South Carolina Self-Insurers Association says it has filed an amicus brief in an appeal of Workers' Compensation Commission ruling in which a claimant was awarded $239,672.80 in permanent partial disability benefits.
The association said on its website that in Adickes v. Philips Healthcare the commission's award amounts to 487 weeks of benefits, despite a state law that restricts PPD payments to 340 weeks.
