Colorado health care providers should use the prior authorization process to ensure payment for treatments that do not fall squarely within the recommendations of the state’s medical treatment guidelines rather than the notification process created by new rules that go into effect at the start of the year, the Division of Workers’ Compensation said an interpretative bulletin.
