Committee Moves Comp Bills Toward Final Vote

An ad hoc committee of the Hawaii Legislature passed bills that would impose new requirements on doctors prescribing opioids to injured workers, and would increase payment to doctors treating firefighters with admitted cancer claims. A special conference committee consisting of members from the Senate and the House of Representatives on Tuesday voted 8-0 to pass SB 2244, and 7-0 to pass HB 1778.
