The Colorado Senate Finance Committee has approved a bill that would create an uninsured employers fund and give the state Division of Workers’ Compensation the authority to reduce penalties charged to uninsured businesses.
The committee on Friday voted 4-1 to send the bill to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
House Bill 1119, by Rep. Tracy Kraft-Tharp, D-Jefferson, would create an uninsured employer fund that would be financed by penalties charged to companies that illegally operated without work comp coverage.
