Broker Gets 6 Months in Jail for Pocketing Premiums

A Northern California broker was sentenced to six months in jail for embezzling more than $30,000 in insurance premiums, the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office announced. Ernie B. Morris, 46, pleaded no contest to 13 counts of identity theft, grand theft and theft of funds by a person acting as an agent or broker.  Prosecutors said he targeted his own friends from 2010 to 2011, convincing them to buy workers' compensation, auto or business insurance.
