Claimants and defendants with limited English and their lawyers in Maryland are being reminded about the rules on the provision of interpreter services.
The Maryland Workers' Compensation Commission posted a notice on its website that interpreter services will not be provided to any party or witness at hearings unless the commission knows about them well ahead of time.
Parties have to contact the commission's Interpreter Program Office and identify each individual that needs an interpreter 10 days after a hearing notice is issued.
