Employer Not Strictly Liable for Replacing Worker's Prosthesis

A Missouri employer cannot be held strictly liable to its employee for the replacement of a prosthesis that failed while he was engaged in the course and scope of his employment, the state appellate court ruled. Case: Robbins v. Webco Inc. et al., No. SD31607, 06/18/2012, published. Facts: Herbert Robbins, at age 19, lost his lower right leg to cancer. In 2004, the knee frame of his prosthesis shattered while he was doing some heavy lifting.
