Three workers’ compensation measures moved forward in the California state Assembly this week, including a closely watched measure that would extend workers’ compensation benefits to peace officers who are injured out of state while attempting to protect life or property.
Assembly Bill 1749, by Assemblyman Tom Daly, D-Anaheim, passed the Assembly Insurance Committee in a 13-0 vote on Wednesday. The bill would clarify that peace officers who are injured out of state while attempting to protect life or property are acting within the scope of employment.
