After Two Years of Input and Revisions, Complex Formulary Begins Today

New York state's much-debated and long-awaited workers' compensation drug formulary takes effect today for all new prescriptions. For existing prescriptions, the formulary gives doctors until July 2020 to wean injured workers off non-preferred drugs or to request authorization from the insurer or employer. Pre-authorization for medications that are not on the preferred list can be done through the Workers' Compensation Board's medical portal website.
