Alaska has set its cost-of-living adjustment rates for workers' compensation beneficiaries who move out of state.
Workers who move to areas where the cost of living is higher than Alaska's will find themselves out of luck, as the amount of benefits a worker receives cannot exceed what they received in Alaska, under state statute. The rate either remains the same or reduces.
For example, workers moving to Bakersfield, California, will receive 80.48% of the amount they received in Alaska. Workers moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado, will receive 71.89%.
