Roofer's History of Shaky Ladders Fuels $61,000 OSHA Fine

A Colorado Springs roofing contractor's history of failing to secure ladders at its job sites contributed to a recent $61,000 fine from the federal workplace safety agency. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Big Valle Roofing this week for deploying ladders that had not been secured, an issue inspectors found three times between 2013 and 2016. The ladders did not extend 3 feet above the landing surface, either, violating a federal safety requirement, OSHA said.
