SAIF Kicks Off Agricultural Safety Training

Wednesday, October 17, 2018 | 0

Oregon’s SAIF Corp. is launching its annual agricultural safety training program at the end of October with the first of 28 seminars that will run through March.

The goal of the program is to reduce the approximately 1,500 injuries sustained by agricultural workers each year, Reva Hartenstein, senior safety management consultant at SAIF said in a statement.

Seminars presented over the next six months will focus on four topics, including new employee training, best practices for chemical use, conscious decision-making, and safe driving on and off the farm. Nine of the courses will be presented in Spanish.

The seminars are free, and guests don’t have to be insured by SAIF to attend.

The first seminar is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Clarion Inn in Ontario. A full schedule of classes is here.

Each of the seminar topics will also be presented via webinar March 12, 14, 19 and 21, and available here.
