A complaint about unsafe working conditions prompted an inspection by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration that led to $77,000 in proposed penalties against an Ohio manufacturer.
OSHA cited MTD Consumer Group in Willard for one willful, one serious and one other-than-serious citation on March 23. The company failed to ensure that employees wore hearing protection, did not implement feasible administrative or engineering controls to reduce noise exposure and failed to evaluate respiratory hazards, OSHA said.
