Self-Insured Subsequent Injury Board Reviewing Claims at Wednesday Meeting

Friday, November 3, 2017 | 0

Nevada’s Board for the Administration of the Subsequent Injury Account for Self-Insured Employers will review requests for reimbursement from a half-dozen employers during a Wednesday meeting near Las Vegas.

The Subsequent Injury Account for Self-Insured Employers pays benefits on behalf of employers who hire workers with a permanent physical impairment in certain cases. Nevada law directs the account to pay benefits when a worker suffers a subsequent disability in the course of employment and is entitled to compensation for a disability that is substantially greater as a result of the combined effects of the pre-existing condition and the subsequent injury than what would have been owed for the subsequent injury alone.

Board members will review recommendations from the administration of the Division of Industrial Relations to deny reimbursement requests from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the Clark County Fire Department, the City of North Las Vegas, and Caesars Palace and Cirque du Soleil.

The board will also review a recommendation to approve a request for reimbursement from Southwest Airlines.

The board meets at 10 a.m. at 1301 North Green Valley Parkway in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson.

The meeting agenda is here.
