WCD Sets 2017 Death Benefits

The Alaska Workers’ Compensation Division has issued a bulletin listing death benefits for fatalities occurring during 2017. For a widow or widower with no children, the weekly compensation rate will be 80% of the spendable weekly wage, up to $1,239. For a widow or widower and one child, payments are set at $688 per week for the surviving spouse and $551 per week for the child, if the employee’s weekly pay is $1,101 or more.
