The maximum weekly rate for 2019 for temporary and permanent disability in New Jersey will increase, to $921, the New Jersey Division of Workers' Compensation announced.

That's up from the current maximum of $903, the division said. The minimum amount also has increased, from $241, to $246. The rates take effect Jan. 1, 2019.

An injured worker who has sustained a disability that is total and permanent in nature is entitled to receive 70% of the weekly wages earned at the time of the injury, up to a maximum of 75% of the statewide average weekly wage, and a minimum of 20% of the wage, claimants' attorney Jon Gelman of Wayne, New Jersey, said, quoting state law.

The change marks the eighth straight year that the weekly rates have increased.
