DWC to Audit Use of Neuromuscular Testing; Wants Input on Plan
Wednesday, August 1, 2018 | 0
The Texas Division of Workers' Compensation is asking for input on a proposed plan to audit neuromuscular testing to determine if it is medically necessary and is backed by proper record-keeping, the division announced this week.
The division has launched a number of plan-based audits in recent years, including audits of doctors' prescribing habits, which found that a number of physicians were not keeping adequate records.
It's unclear if the division or insurance carriers have noticed a surge in the neuromuscular testing procedures or why the division is considering the audits now. The division is required by law to periodically monitor health care providers and claimants who receive medical services.
Interested parties can submit suggestions via email to OMA@tdi.texas.gov by 5 p.m. Central time Aug. 14.
